Unleash: Ultimate guide to spa on a Carnival Cruise

Make the most of your Cloud 9 Spa experience on a Carnival Cruise ship with this ultimate guide! Follow these 8 steps to achieve total relaxation.

1. Getting Started

If you are not staying in a Cloud 9 Spa stateroom (Are Cloud 9 Spa Staterooms worth it?), purchase a Thermal Suite pass  (comes in single, multi-day, and cruise duration – see prices here). Slip into your favorite bathing suit for the thermal suite and get ready to say ahhhh. Towels are provided to all guests, branded robes are provided to Cloud 9 Spa Stateroom Guests (up to 2).

2. Book your treatments in advance (optional)

If you are interested in receiving wellness treatments, you may book your spa service online anytime after booking. Log in to your Carnival.com account, go to “Manage My Booking,” and click on “Spa & Salon Services” to view pricing and book your treatments. Prices for spa treatments may differ based on the appointment time, and certain services may have special value pricing while the ship is on port. You can pre-purchase spa treatments up to 3 days before your sailing date. There may be some Special Embarkation Pricing.

3. Prepare to unwind

Prepare your mind and body. Prior to your treatments, rinse your skin to wash away the remnants of the outside world (any dirt, bacteria or sunblock), leaving you refreshed and ready to fully embrace the incredible benefits of the Spa.

4. Hydrate

Stay hydrated before your treatment or entering the Thermal Suite therapy chambers by drinking plenty of fluids. This helps regulate your body temperature, promotes perspiration, and prevents dehydration, ensuring you can fully enjoy and benefit from the experience.

5. Indulge in the Moment

Whether you choose to do a service or the thermal suites, let the tranquil environment wash over you. Do this in the treatment waiting room or on the heated lounger chairs. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel your body relax as you exhale. Let go of all your worries and cares. Just for the time you’re there, be still, relax, and enjoy the moment.

6. Guide your therapist (Optional)

Before your spa service, chat with your therapist to let them know what you’re looking for. Especially let them know of any pain, discomfort, or allergies. They will tailor the experience to your specific needs and preferences. During the treatment, don’t be afraid to speak up if anything feels uncomfortable (temperature, lighting, sound, etc.). Your therapist is there to help you relax and enjoy yourself, so don’t hesitate to ask for anything you need.

  • Start slow – Don’t overdo it at first. Start with a 5-10 minute session and gradually increase the time as you become more comfortable.
  • Let Go – Simply relax and enjoy the experience. Let the heat, humidity, or salt work their magic and help you release stress, tension, and toxins.

8. Listen to your body & Re-Hydrate

Listen to your body. If you start to feel lightheaded or dizzy, take a break, and cool down. Many spa treatments can dehydrate you. Massages, heat treatments, and steaming or sauna can all cause you to lose fluids through sweat and perspiration. It is important to drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after steaming or sauna to stay hydrated
